Privacy Policy

The short version: Glint is built to watch your machine without watching you. Your system and process data stays on your Mac. Fleet sync runs through your own iCloud — 828 TECH LLC runs no server in the middle and never receives your data. No ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers.

Who we are
Glint is made by 828 TECH LLC ("828 Tech," "we," "us"), an independent macOS software studio in North Carolina, USA. This policy covers the Glint menu-bar app (Mac App Store and Direct builds), the open-source glint-cli tool, and this website (828tech.app).
What stays on your device
Everything Glint measures — CPU, memory, disk, network, battery, and (in the Direct build) per-process detail — is read from macOS on your own machine and displayed locally. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no server that could receive it. History windows (90 seconds to 8 hours) are held on your device.
Fleet sync
If you turn on fleet publishing, your machines share live stats with each other. This travels one of two ways, both under your control:
- Over your local network, machine-to-machine, encrypted and paired with a code you generate — nothing leaves your LAN.
- Through your own iCloud (Apple's CloudKit), so your devices sync using your Apple Account's private storage. We have no access to this data; it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
828 Tech operates no fleet server and holds no copy of your fleet data.
Diagnostics & crash reports
Glint can send anonymous crash and diagnostic reports so we can fix bugs. These are opt-out — you can turn them off in Preferences at any time — and contain no personal information and nothing that identifies you or names your files or processes. We use them only to improve stability, and never to profile or advertise.
If you email us
When you contact us — for support, or to be notified at launch — we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you or to send the one launch email you asked for. We don't sell it, share it, or add you to any other list, and we delete launch-notify addresses after launch.
What we don't do
- No advertising, ad networks, or ad identifiers.
- No analytics or usage tracking, first- or third-party.
- No selling or sharing of personal data — ever.
- No accounts or logins required to use the app.
Children
Glint is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your choices & rights
Because we hold almost nothing, there is little to request — but you may email us to ask what (if anything) we have about you, or to have any email correspondence deleted. Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/EEA or California), you may have additional rights over personal data; we honor them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it on this page. Continued use of Glint after a change means you accept the updated policy.
